A cycling training plan works best when it fits your current fitness, schedule, and goal. Start with a routine you can repeat consistently instead of trying to copy an advanced athlete’s plan.
Start with a clear goal
Choose one main goal for the next four to six weeks: ride more comfortably, build a longer weekend ride, improve confidence on hills, or make cycling a regular habit.
Simple weekly cycling plan
Easy ride
Ride at a comfortable conversational pace for 20 to 45 minutes.
Skill or interval ride
After an easy warm-up, include a few short, controlled efforts with plenty of easy riding between them.
Longer easy ride
Make one ride slightly longer, adding time gradually as your body adapts.
Rest or cross-training day
Use rest, walking, or light strength work to keep the week balanced.
Progress without overdoing it
Change only one variable at a time: duration, frequency, or intensity. If fatigue builds or form slips, reduce the next session rather than forcing it.
