A daily mobility routine does not need to be long or intense. This beginner-friendly sequence uses comfortable, controlled movement to help you take a short break from sitting or prepare for light activity.
An eight-minute mobility routine
1. Breathing and shoulder rolls
Stand or sit tall, take a few relaxed breaths, and roll the shoulders slowly in both directions.
2. Neck turns
Turn your head gently from side to side without forcing the range. Keep the movement smooth.
3. Cat-cow movement
On hands and knees, move slowly between a comfortable rounded and extended spine position.
4. Hip circles
Hold a stable support and make small, controlled circles with each knee.
5. Half-kneeling hip shift
Use padding under the knee and shift forward only as far as feels comfortable.
6. Ankle rocks
With one foot forward, gently move the knee toward the toes while keeping the heel down if possible.
7. Supported squat
Hold a stable support, lower only to a comfortable depth, and stand with control.
8. Easy walk
Finish with a short walk around your room, home, or block at a relaxed pace.
How to make it a habit
Try this routine after waking, before a workout, or after a long period of sitting. Start with one round and use a comfortable range rather than chasing flexibility.
